Mobbing by design

Small, repeated exclusions accumulate into a sustained experience of being unworthy.

A teal curve labelled "Experiences of being unworthy" rising over time, with a raised middle-finger hand near its upper end. The caption reads "Mobbing by design".
Experiences of being unworthy accumulate over time. Mobbing by design.

What it is

This is the companion to the exemplary curve, the same rising line read the other way. When the built world keeps signalling that you do not belong, a step here, a sign there, a route around the back, those moments do not stay separate. They add up.

Over time they become a steady sense of being unworthy. I call that mobbing by design. Not one cruel act, but many small exclusions that, together, do the work of mobbing, even when no one set out to harm anyone.
