Accessibility statement.

What this site does

The site targets WCAG 2.2 level AA, and goes further where it can. Every text and background colour pair in the design system is computed against the WCAG contrast formula and clears the stricter AAA threshold of 7:1 for body text, in both light and dark mode.

• The typeface is Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, designed by the Braille Institute for low-vision readability.
• Every page has a skip link, a single h1, and a semantic heading structure.
• Keyboard focus is always visible: a high-contrast ring that is never removed.
• Interactive targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
• All animation is turned off when your system asks for reduced motion.
• Dark mode follows your system preference, and a toggle lets you override it either way.
• Search runs entirely in your browser and works with a keyboard: open with the search button or Ctrl+K, close with Escape.
• Images carry text alternatives. Purely decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
• Photos can be enlarged in an overlay that works with a keyboard: Enter or Space opens it, Escape closes it, and the enlarged view reads out the image description.
• Text is sized in relative units, so browser zoom and text-size settings work as expected.

Known limitations

The writing archive is imported from LinkedIn and from the previous version of this site. A few of the older editions still have gaps: an image without a proper text alternative, or a heading structure that skips a level. I fix these as I find them.

The printable run sheets on the workshops page are PDFs generated from web pages, and they are not yet tagged for screen readers. The instructions they carry are also on the workshops page itself in ordinary HTML, and the frameworks they quote are linked there in accessible form.
